TUCKER RIDGE miniatures paintings

I have listed a full compliment of my miniature paintings, ( click on minature portraits, etc., list at left) that cover all the subjects I paint. Primarily a portrait artist, I also do Old Master/Impressionist copies, landscapes (and in Maine, I have lots of source-scenes!) still life, florals, sea scapes, animals or whatever else the muse comes along with.I've listed a few recent watercolor portraits in the Miniature Portraits - (list on left.)

My "Art Life"

I work in oil, watercolor, pastel, graphite, silverpoint, watercolor & pastel pencil - for miniatures, I work in the traditional watercolor on Ivorine (when available) & Polymin - Ivory substitutes - and in graphite or silverpoint - favorite tool of Old Masters from Medieval times. I left Maine after graduation for the Berkshires, (Massachusetts) where I studied under nationally known artists, William Shultz, M.P.S.A. & Paul E. Decker, N.W.S. I exhibited in several shows and festivals and received invaluable critiquing and encouragement from Norman Rockwell, Norman Kent, N.A. & Robert Brackman, M.P.S.A... I then moved to Carmel-By-The-Sea, the famous artist colony in California. I exhibited there, in Monterey, Cannery Row and at the famous "Sabido & Domingo" in Santa Barbara. My work also hung in the Dewey Gallery in Salt Lake City. I then moved "back home t'Maine" - my little home is surrounded by the Maine forest - and have had several "one man" shows in the DownEast area, including the Samoset Resort in Rockland and the Parks Gallery in Bangor. My work is in collections all across the US (inc. Alaska & Hawaii,) Canada and Europe.

I have done invitational exhibits and demonstrations at the Hutchingson Center College in Maine and as an exhibiting member of the prestigeous HILLIARD SOCIETY of Miniaturists in Great Britain, 4 of my minatures were accepted and exhibited in Wells, and in Taunton Castle, Taunton, Somerset, U.K...
